The disease burden in the society in general and surgical conditions in particular like trauma, cancer, surgical gastroenterology, colorectal, hepato-biliary, bariatric & metabolic disorders, diabetic foot, varicose veins are increasing everyday. The dept. of General Surgery, Laparoscopic & Minimal Access Surgery & Surgical Gastroenterology is manned by a team of Consultant Surgeons and well supported by resident doctors and registrars to take care of the admitted patients 24×7. A general surgeon is available at all times to attend to any surgical emergencies. The department takes care of all surgical emergencies like abdominal trauma and all emergency surgical scenarios.

All the surgical emergencies including trauma cases are attended by a surgical team in coordination with other departmental colleagues like Orthopaedic surgeon, Neurosurgeon, Plastic Surgeon and Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon along with an interventional radiologist.

The department of general surgery is committed to the continued medical education and training for young surgeons. For this purpose regular teaching programmes, case discussions, seminars, symposia are conducted regularly.

Key Specialities:

General Surgery: All General Surgery Cases from head to toe. Swellings, lipoma, sebaceous cyst, abscess, ulcers and non-healing wounds.

Minimal Access & Laparoscopic Surgery: Cholecystectomy, Appendicectomy, Hernioplasty (Inguinal, ventral, femoral & diaphragmatic) and Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery.

Surgical Gastroenterology: Hepato-biliary & Colorectal.

Benign Ano-rectal Pathologies: Equipped with hi-tech Laser machines for pain free treatment of Haemorrhoids, Fistula, Pilonidal Sinus & Fissure. Peri anal Abscess.

Trauma & Emergency: Abdominal & Chest Trauma, Laparotomy
